Emily Hudson is a native of Crowley, Louisiana. Her family is extensively involved in rice and crawfish farming as well as keeping about 1000 head of cattle in a cow-calf operation. She grew up participating in 4-H and other livestock related organizations. Emily attended Louisiana State University (LSU) and received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Technologies in 2004. In May of 2008 she was awarded her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from LSU.
Her job experience outside the family businesses includes working at the Acadia Animal Clinic in Crowley, LA and Harthill and Priest Equine Surgery in Versailles, KY. Dr. Hudson joined the staff of Duke Animal Clinic in June of 2008 and has developed a special interest in digital imaging technology. As the practice has acquired digital x-ray and upgraded the digital ultrasound capabilities, Dr. Hudson has gained advanced training in these areas.
A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, and the Mobile Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Hudson participates fully with all animal rescue and organizations promoting animal welfare. At LSU she took elective courses in equine reproduction and shelter medicine as well as volunteering in the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts.
She and her husband have two rescued dogs, Collette, Jet, and a grey tabby cat Ike.
